Christmas Eve Eve

Gooood morning. Merry Christmas Eve-Eve! (Yes, it’s a thing.)

I hope you’re like me and have a work-from-home week this week. I took it a step further and took today off completely to really get myself into the Christmas spirit. With all the go-go-going that consumes… 87% of my life, it never really feels like the holidays until you take some time to really take it all in. This weekend (and today) did just that for me.

Speaking of this weekend – the quickest recap in history:

Friday: Holiday party at one of my oldest friend’s apartments. So much fun catching up with people I hadn’t seen in a looooong time. Bonus fun when our little brothers (they’re 26, so not exactly little) showed up to join in on the festivities.

Saturday: While boyfriend did some GMAT studying, I got a manicure (after 3 weeks off from shellac to give my nails a break, it’s baaaack), my eyebrows tamed (waxed), and a little Christmas shopping done. Then I decided to really get after it and run 3 miles at the gym and then take on Trader Joe’s to stock us up for the next few days. Saturday ended with a date night – dinner at Barney’s and then American Hustle. <— It’s SO GOOD. I love me some Jennifer Lawrence, and Christian Bale is fantastic too.

This happened at William’s Sonoma – Cup4Cup (Thomas Keller’s brand – the best) GF baking mixes.

I also made Robyn’s Pumpkin Cranberry Vanilla Oats (my new favorite weekend morning breakfast).

Sunday: I’m pretty sure we checked off all 15 things from our to-do list. (AKA last minute Christmas shopping)  One of our stops – Restoration Hardware (otherwise known as my favorite place on Earth) where we both decided this entire room will be in our home one day.

I somehow convinced boyfriend to grab a smoothie at Plant with me (a Christmas miracle in itself) and then we went to catch the sunset at Rodeo Beach in Marin. Beaches in December. Another reason I will never leave California.

We ended the night with Plant take-out from a second location (me) and sushi (boyfriend) while we watched Prisoners <– also amazing. Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal are fantastic in it (but sadly neither of them look their very best – you’ve been warned.) Also, Earth Balance Cinnamon “Butter” (it’s vegan, hence the “butter” reference) on top of air popped popcorn is my new favorite thing in life.

Which brings us to today.

My day started around 7:30 – I got up, made an almond milk latte, and had a banana with Vanilla Almond Butter before heading over to Lisa’s 8:30am SoulCycle class. Is there anything better than starting your day with a solid sweat? (And today, I mean solid – I’m pretty sure the heater was on. It was like bikram cycling in there. You can imagine how awesome I look right now. And no, I have no showered yet. But yes, I promise I will in like 15 minutes once this post goes up. I’m also sitting on the floor in our apartment refusing to get my sweat near the couch. I’m so lovely.)

via but I want everything in this photograph. Look better = feel better = bike better. AmIright?

I was starving when I got home so after throwing in the ingredients for my favorite slow cooker tomato sauce recipe (try it – it’s incredible), I whipped up a green smoothie (unsweetened original almond milk, spinach, SunWarrior Vanilla Warrior Blend Protein, hemp seeds, chia seeds, frozen mango) and topped it with half a bag of my favorite granola. Because I’m 5 years old and need a crunchy texture with my smoothie.

In case it’s difficult for you to visualize what “smoothie with granola on top looks like.

Down the hatch.

The rest of today? Making Jessica’s Quinoa Turkey Meatballs (baking them since my slow cooker is somewhat preoccupied at this moment), getting a pedicure, some baking, some more last-minute Christmas shopping, cleaning the apartment, and finally teaching 2 Pilates classes tonight (debating between a holiday themed playlist or a Beyonce vs Jay Z one… I’ve been really into The Carter’s since I saw Bey (we’re tight like that) in concert a few weeks ago.

Then heading home to the ‘burbs tomorrow AM for some Christmas cheer! (And mayyyyyybe one more Soul Cycle class early AM!)

Hope you have a lovely Christmas Eve Eve!
